HMX Sandstorm – Tactile Switches with a Pronounced Bump and Crisp Sound
The HMX Sandstorm, manufactured by HMX, redefines the tactile experience through a combination of a precise bump and a signature clacky sound. Inspired by the Type R structure, Sandstorm delivers a distinct tactile feel from start to finish, with a nearly imperceptible short linear portion at the end of the press.
Unique Tactile Experience
Sandstorm features a profile close to a "D tactile" type, where each press begins and ends with clear, consistent feedback.
The tactility is constant, delivering a satisfying, rhythmic feel during typing — ideal for those who prefer a well-defined response without compromising the fluidity of movement.
Innovative Construction & Distinct Acoustics
Upper Housing: Polycarbonate (PC) – HMX's new top housing design with a wider upper opening eliminates the syringe effect and provides smooth, controlled movement.
Lower Housing: PA66 (Nylon) – delivers structural stability and a full, balanced sound.
Stem: POM – ensures solid tactile feel and fast key return.
Acoustically, Sandstorm preserves the signature HMX sound: a clacky, crisp, satisfying tone that accentuates each press.
High-Precision Factory Lubrication
Each switch is factory-lubed with a thin film of Krytox 205g0 applied to the stem legs and rails.
The spring and metal contact are also lubed to ensure consistency and a smooth feel in use.

Spring & Specifications
The switches come equipped with an 18mm single-stage KOS spring, providing fast, stable response.
The mold is brand new, and each unit comes factory-lubed for optimal performance.
